PAKISTAN CRIMINAL LAW AMENDMENT (WEST PAKISTAN) RULES, 1962

No. SV. 13-2-80 dated 16-6-80.-In exercise of the powers conferred on him by clause (a) of subsection (2) of section 12 of the Pakistan Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1958 (XL of 1958), the Governor of the Punjab is pleased to direct that the following amendments shall be made in the Pakistan Criminal Law Amendment (West Pakistan) Rules, 1962, namely:-
(1) In the ‘Heading’ of the Rules, for the words ‘West Pakistan’ the word ‘Punjab’ shall be substituted.
(2) In rule 1, for the words ‘West Pakistan’ the word ‘Punjab’ shall be substituted.
(3) For rule 2, the following shall be substituted:-
2. ‘Sanction for prosecution’- The power to sanction prosecution of a public servant under sub-section (5) of section 6 of the Pakistan Criminal Amendment Act 1958 (XL of 1958), may be exercised on behalf of the Provincial Government by the Chairman of the Council or the Committee, as the case may he, on the basis of the opinion of such Council or Committee.
Explanation.-For the purpose of this rule Council or Committee shall mean the Council or Committee as defined in the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment Rules, 1974.’
