What is spamdexing? (intellectual property law)

Spamdexing is the use of methods to ensure the appearance of a particular web page high up in a search engine’s output. Some of the methods used are perfectly legal, some are legal but unethical. These involve the use of trade marks in the meta-tagging or other text associated with web page.It is worth noting already that the legal protection of trademarks is limited to particular classes of goods and services and within particular geographic territories, and to get world-wide protection for all goods and services is difficult to achieve and extremely expensive.
