Lawyer signing legal documents

Client Query 051:- Hi, Hope everything is well at your end. Wanted to clarify whether pre-qualification of firms along with their products remains valid for two years or pre-qualification of firms have to be carried out on yearly basis.

Saad Qayyum, UK

Asnswer:- Thank you very much for writing to us.  As per your query, Rules 15-18 of Public Procurement Rules, 2004 states that the pre-qualification of suppliers ad contractors is carried out. Procuring agency is required to specify in the bidding documents whether the pre-qualification is carried out for a specific job for once time or a period for completion of similar jobs. However, such period should not be more than one or two years to provide level playing field to all competitors.
